Blog Session 8. Write about you Blogging Experience


- Did you enjoy it? Why? Why not?

Let’s see… my level of English isn’t the better, so it wasn’t easy for me writing the tasks. For this reason mostly I had to finish the task in my house because the time of the class is not enough for me (because I’m a person that thinks a lot in what she will write and it takes me longer if is in other languages). And sometimes I didn’t have time necessary for do it. But, apart from that, I have to say that is not so bad, because some of the topics are very interesting. Moreover I always wanted to have a blog, but I’m a very lazy girl.


- Did it help you improve your English?
I hope so. Really I don’t know, but I think yes, because some tasks had word that I didn’t know and for make this tasks I had to find what this words means. And in this way I improve my vocabulary.

- Give your opinion of the advantages and disadvantages of blogging in the English class.

I think that the advantages of blogging are: We can express our opinions freely, we can read what our classmates wrote and we can share opinions, we can choose the design of the blog, we can learn new words.

I think that the disadvantages of blogging are: We can’t choose the topic and sometimes we have to talk about something that maybe we aren’t interested or don’t know anything about this and we must quickly form an opinion at this time. I think that also is bad that the task have a minimum number of words because maybe in two sentences I say all what I think about a topic and other person needs 500 words to say it.

Blog 7 The best in your area

I think the best in my area is Pablo Ruiz-Tagle Vial.

He’s professor of Constitutional Law and Introduction to Law at the Faculty of the University of Chile. At Yale University received the degree of Master of Laws in 1988 and in 1995 his degree of Doctor of Laws. He is a member of the Study Larrain and Associates.

He has published several articles and books, such as “Revisión Crítica del derecho” (1990), “Derecho, Justicia y Libertad” (2002), “La república en Chile” (2007), among others.

He was part of the team that defended the right to freedom of expression in the case of the film “Temptation of Christ”, and he was nominated for to be “Contralor General de la República”.

These are just some of the important milestones in his career, but are so many to mention here.

I like him because he is a good professor. I enjoyed his classes very much. For me, meet with a teacher as Pablo Ruiz Tagle was both, a blessing and a curse. It was a curse because I study at a public school with a very low level of difficulty, and meet this professor at the first year of my career it wasn’t easy at all, because he makes you read a lot, I mean REALLY a lot of pages, and I wasn’t used to read SO much. But, also meet him is a blessing, for several reasons: first, I think that taking his classes I am prepared to pass any course. (Yeah … it was really difficult to me); second, most of his classes were very entertaining, because he is very sarcastic and humorous and telling stories sometimes; third, I think that I really learned a lot with him.

He is the best because he’s a great professor and a great lawyer that defend human rights and because he teaches me something very important: Always wary of the power.

Blog 6 Talk review on creativity

Sir Ken Robinson says schools kill creativity. He says that all kids have tremendous talents. And we squander them, pretty ruthlessly. He says that creativity is as important in education as literacy, and we should treat it with the same status. And I completely agree with Sir Ken Robinson.

In schools of Chile, as in every place in the world, teach you obedience and respect, punctuality and discipline. And I’m not saying that is wrong, but who cares about being spontaneous or creative? I always thought that so many rules only achieve to uniform like all of us were robots with the same serial number.

He says that if you’re not prepared to be wrong, you’re never come up with anything original. The children lost this capacity when they become in adults. He says that we’re now running national education system where mistakes are the worst thing you can make. And this is sad but true. Is for this reason that most people—I am—are afraid to make mistakes, afraid to be wrong. And the result is that we are educating people out of their creativity capacities.

He says that arts are as important that math or languages for the education. The schools shouldn’t steer away from thing that you like just because you never get a job doing that. Because nobody knows the future. And maybe you can be a dancer or a singer or anything you want.

Well, the idea of Sir Ken Robinson is that we have to rethink the fundamental principles on which we’re educating our children. And our task is to educate their whole being, so they can face this future.

Sir Ken Robinson in his talks he keeps audience paying attention to him with funny stories and jokes. It’s really nice to see his presentation.

Happy Birthday Photo

I`m not sure, but I think that the photograph it was taken for Rodrigo, he’s the boyfriend of my friend Joseline, the blond girl just in the middle of the group. (She is not drunk … it’s only that she closed his eyes precisely at this time. LOL).

The photo shows my friends and I. We look very happy. We are smiling and hugging each other. From left to right: Pamela with his beautiful eyes and his interesting look, Nikol with his eternal smile, the blond Joseline with a funny expression, Karen with his unique look, and I …. Well … no comment about me.

This photograph it was taken on November 9, last year, in the birthday party of my dear friend Joseline. This day we were celebrating. This is the reason of our happiness.

I like the photo because we look very happy, and because it was a very important moment for me and my friends. We love celebrate our birthday all together. But the real reason of why I like this photograph is because … Is the only one where we appear all (the five of the group) together … This is because I don’t like take photograph of me, because I always look terrible. (u.u) But I’m starting to think that I should take more photograph with my dear friends.

My career

Why I am studying this career ? It's a very good question... really, but I'm not sure what is the reason. If I am sincere study law it's not my childhood dream. I've always liked reading ... but I like read novels, fantasy books ... not lots and lots of boring books about law and laws and codes. But I suppose that I am studying this career because I hope that in the future I can help people with your problems and this way they can have a better life. I really want to can help stop abuse and violence against children.

I'm not really sure if all lawyers contribute to society in some way, because the job of a lawyer is to know the rules of game and to use in favor of his client. And it can be that you have to work for "the dark side". But I suppose that lawyers (only sometimes) contribute to society, attempting to resolve unfair situations that happen to people everyday.

I think that the tools necessary to perform well in future as a lawyer, among others, are : having a good reasoning to resolve cases by applying the legislation, which must be advised of any reforms in existing laws; a lawyer in a trial should talk with security, good voice and good diction; and also a lawyer must be very responsible and punctual, since you can't forget a deadline or be late for a trial. Moreover I think that learning languages could be beneficial when seeking a job.

My favorite subject is Criminal Law, specifically child abuse.

My Legal Corner

Hi , Dear classmates , I hope that all of you are fine.

This time I"ll show you a website that is very useful for Law students. The website is called "Biblioteca del Congreso Nacional", if you wanna see it, you must make a click in the following link: www.bcn.cl .

How I found the site ? ... Well , I heard it in a class probably, but I don't remember which class or which teacher mentioned it. Surely it was in first or second year.

I visit the site frequently. I like the site because you can find almost all national laws. In this site you can find laws, supreme decrees, regulations, bills and international treaties. Also is very easy to find the law that you need since they are ordered very well and the website has a very effective searcher. It's very useful when you need to consult a law to complement your studies.

My favourite piece of technology

My favorite piece of technology is my notebook. I got it in 2008, between February and April, I don't remember exactly. I use my notebook for a lot of things, for example: to do my homework, to download materials from u-cursos, to read books when I can't print at the university, to study, to see articles from the codes that I haven't bought [xDD],etc. But the most important to me and this is what i really like: I can use it to download a lot of things from Asia, dramas, music, tv shows, photos, and I can hear information to the others fans about what have been doing my idols. Also I like it because I can use it everywhere (actually I use it lying in my bed usually). As you can imagine I use it every day.

So, my life without my notebook it would be terrible. I couldn't do my homework so easily, and I couldn't to be always connected to msn to talk to my friends. Also, Asia is too far away , and without my notebook I couln't know what's going on with my idols or download their music, their shows, etc.

About Myself!

Hi everybody! This is my first time posting, so i'm going to tell you a few things about myself.
My name is Carla, but some of my friends call me Kumi or Kumiko. I'm 21 years old and I live in La Florida, Santiago.

I live with my mom, two brothers, one dog and one cat. My mom is kindergarten teacher and she loves her job. My older brother Daniel is 23 years old and my younger brother Ignacio is 19. We argue sometimes, but normally we have a good relations. I love my family.

Well ... Surely all of you are exciting to know about my likes and dislikes ... isn't? (Yeah, Sure! xDD)

I'll start with my dislikes ... is difficult because i hate many things .... I hate lies, selfishness, injustice. Also I dislike fake people and animal abuse, the smell of cinnamon, drogs and drunks people.

Now ... Lovely things to me! ^-^ I like music, especially pop asian music, i like asian culture and i really love dramas. My favorite group is KAT-TUN, they are a japanese boyband and also i like Super Junior, a korean boyband. I like to learn languages, I'm actually learning Korean. And in the future i would like to learn japanese and chinese.

I love the animals , especially cats. I have one, his name is Hideaki. I like chocolate and sweet things.

I'm study Law in the Universidad de Chile . I'm in fourth year of the career. When I was in first year it was really hard to me because i didn't have study habits. I was study in a bad public school and i never studied too much. But now i get into the rhythm of the career.

I hope to learn english very well because i think that is really important to know another languages because i would like to go to different places around the world and also to learn english is very useful to get a good job.
